How to study with Zairyuu
This page explains how to move through your studies with Zairyuu, and how to take the mock exam.

The whole course
COURSE
Zairyuu helps you prepare for the food service Tokutei Ginou 2 (SSW2) exam. One round is 45 sessions（コマ）. Aim for 1 session a day. On days when you have time, you can do more.

How one session works
LESSON
A lesson session goes like this.
STEP 1
Read the lesson text
First, the lesson text (the explanation for the lesson) appears. Read it carefully.
STEP 2
Ask if you have questions
You will be asked「質問は ありますか」(Do you have any questions?). If there is a word you do not understand, ask about it. If you have no questions, write this.
大丈夫
This means "I'm fine". Please send it in Japanese, exactly as written above.
STEP 3
Answer the practice questions
You answer 10 practice questions. They come one at a time.
Each question has 3 choices, and you pick 1. Answer with the number (1, 2 or 3).
As soon as you answer, the correct answer and an explanation appear.
STEP 4
Session complete
When you have answered all 10 questions, the session is complete. The next day, write this and you will start from the next session.

This means "I want to continue". Please send it in Japanese, exactly as written above.
Taking the mock exam (session 43)
MOCK EXAM
Session 43 is the mock exam（模試）. It has the same format as the real exam.

STEP 1
Start the mock exam
When you finish session 42, the next session is the mock exam. Write this as usual. You do not need any special phrase.

Before it starts, Zairyuu explains how to take it. This is the same as steps 2 to 5 on this page.
Please start when you have plenty of time. If you stop partway through, you may have to answer again.
STEP 2
Answer one question at a time
The questions come one at a time. Each one has a number, like「問5／55」(Question 5 of 55).
Send your answer as the number of the choice (1, 2 or 3).
STEP 3
If you don't know, send「わからない」
If you do not know the answer, send this and you will move on to the next question.
わからない
This means "I don't know". Please send it in Japanese, exactly as written above.
STEP 4
Scoring after all questions
You will not see whether your answers are right or wrong along the way. You only see it after you have answered all 55 questions and they are scored. This is the same as the real exam.
STEP 5
See your results
At the end, you will see:
- Your score
- Whether you passed
- Your score for each field
Final push (sessions 44 and 45)
FINAL REVIEW
Sessions 44 and 45 are the final push（総仕上げ）.
You review, focusing on the questions you got wrong in the mock exam and your weak fields.

When you are stuck, write one of these in the chat. Please send them in Japanese, exactly as written.

つづきからやりたい
This means "I want to continue from where I stopped".
I want to hear it again
もう一度せつめいして
This means "Please explain it once more".
It is too difficult
もっとかんたんな日本語でせつめいして
This means "Please explain it in simpler Japanese".
I want it in my own language
〇〇語でせつめいして
This means "Please explain it in 〇〇". Put the name of your language in Japanese where 〇〇 is (for example: 英語 = English, ベトナム語 = Vietnamese).
I want to know how far I have got
今どこまですすんだ？
This means "How far have I got now?".

FAQ
I don't know how to answer the mock exam
In the mock exam, you answer one question at a time. Send the number (1, 2 or 3). If you do not know the answer, send「わからない」. You find out whether you were right only after answering all 55 questions.

I stopped partway through
For a lesson, write「つづきからやりたい」and you will continue from the questions you have not answered yet.
For the mock exam, write「模試をはじめたい」and you will get the same questions with the same numbers. However, your earlier answers may not be kept.
I want to skip to the next session
Sessions go in order. You cannot skip a session.
How many sessions can I do in a day?
As many as you like. Aim for 1 session a day, but on days when you have time, do more. If your exam date is close, you will need to do several sessions a day.
I want to take the mock exam early
We recommend taking the mock exam at session 43. If you take it earlier, you will have fewer mock exams left to use before the real exam. If you still want to take it, tell Zairyuu. Zairyuu will explain why and then ask you to confirm.
